    Text  From "The World" newspaper, Barre, VT, March 17, 2004:

    Sholan, Eugene Donald, 60, of Worcester and formerly of Hardwick, died unepectedly March 8.

    He was born March 4, 1944 in Hartford, CT, the son of T. Paul and Mildred (Symonds) Sholan. He attended Hardwick public schools. He was first married to Sharon Gates. He was later married to Betty Campbell. Eugene was employed for several years at Sam Daniel's Manufacturing in Hardwick. He installed water pipeline for making snow at Jay Peak and at Mt. Mansfield Ski Areas. He was self employed, repairing heavy equipment and sheet metal, in Hardwick. He later worked for the Sam Daniel's Company in Montpelier designing and building furnaces and dumpsters. He worked part time for Casella Waste repairing their dumpsters. He retired in the early 1990s due to failing health. He was a member of the United Trinity Methodist Church in Montpelier and the Moose Lodge #1391 of Barre.

    Survivors include his mother: Mildred Sholan of East Hardwick; 4 children: Aileen Gamble of Bath NH, Jene Mansur of Hardwick, Donald E. Sholan of Brunswick Georgia, and Bunny Salls of East Calais; 9 grandchildren; his former wife Betty Campbell of Worcester; her children: Albert Campbell of Berlin, Rodney Campbell of Barre, Robin Campbell of Montpelier, and Julie Dow of Williamstown; and her 8 grandchildren. Eugene is also survived by 4 brothers: James Sholan of Hardwick, Gerard Sholan of Lakeland, FL, Rodney Sholan of Morrisville, and Marcel Sholan of Hardwick; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father in 1982.
